On 15 September 2026 Meta launched Meta One, a subscription service that spans Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta AI. Alongside consumer bundles at $7.99 and $19.99 a month, the announcement introduced a Meta One business subscription in four plans: Essential from $14.99, Advanced from $49.99, Expert from $149 and Max from $499 a month. The plan that matters most for anyone running a brand account is Advanced, because it is the cheapest one that puts clickable links inside organic Instagram posts and Reels.

Meta’s newsroom post says the plans are “now available globally” and rolling out gradually, that the service launches with more than 50 features, and that Meta counts 15 million subscriptions and trials to date across its paid products. TechCrunch, Engadget and Social Media Today reported the details the same day.

Why is Meta selling subscriptions now?

The consumer side of this is not new. TechCrunch reported in May 2026 that Meta had officially launched Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus as single-app subscriptions, with AI plans promised for later. Meta One is that later: the three Plus products are now bundled into a Core plan at $7.99 and a Premium plan at $19.99, each with expanded Meta AI usage, and the single-app plans remain at $2.99 for WhatsApp and $3.99 for Instagram and Facebook.

For businesses, the plans build on what Meta already sold: Engadget describes the Essential plan as combining “Meta Verified benefits” with the new AI offerings. Engadget also notes that the links feature was tested earlier in 2026 as part of Meta Verified. Meta’s announcement does not say whether Meta Verified is being renamed, folded in or kept separate, so we treat that as an open question until the subscription settings in a business account say otherwise.

Meta’s framing, in the announcement’s own words: “The core experience across our apps and Meta AI has always been free, and that’s not changing. Subscriptions unlock more specialized capabilities and expanded AI usage that go beyond what a free experience built for billions can offer.”

What each Meta One business plan includes

According to the Meta newsroom post, Essential ($14.99+) covers an enhanced profile that showcases a website and locations, a bold Follow button on Reels, follow invitations to engaged users, the verified badge with impersonation protection, a verified channel in the WhatsApp Business app and more access to the Meta Business Agent, the AI assistant that answers customers on the business’s behalf.

Advanced ($49.99+) adds what Meta calls advanced publishing: Stories scheduled up to 30 days ahead, links in organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics, deeper audience insights, team member access to the account without sharing passwords, more linked devices, business broadcast credits on WhatsApp and a larger Meta Business Agent allowance.

Expert ($149+) and Max ($499+) are described as offering “the highest levels of feature access and Meta Business Agent capacity for teams managing at scale”. Engadget adds that Max includes unlimited access to human support and a phone support option.

Social Media Today, reading Meta’s business channel, lists further tools in the packages: competitive insights for Instagram covering up to ten competitor brands, extended insights history, custom audience insights for Facebook and content scheduling with posting recommendations. Meta also says an Edits Plus tier is coming to Meta One, with cloud storage, cross-device sync and an Edits assistant that analyses Instagram content.

The detail is in Meta’s help page, which is worth reading before paying. Links go into organic posts and Reels on a public account through an Add link step after writing the caption. The monthly allowance is 4 posts and 4 Reels on Advanced, 8 and 8 on Expert, 12 and 12 on Max. Links to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, and links to the account’s product catalogue, do not count against the allowance. The allowance resets on the subscription renewal date and unused links do not carry over. A link cannot be edited once the post is shared, and the feature is not available to teens.

Two things the help page does not say: what happens to links already published if the subscription lapses, and whether the count is shared across Facebook and Instagram or separate. Nor does any of the coverage say whether posts with links are treated differently in distribution. We would expect an answer to the last question to emerge from creators’ own data over the coming weeks rather than from Meta.

What it means for your business

Price the links per click you can actually expect. Four linked posts a month for $49.99 is a cheap experiment if a post reliably sends people to a product page, and a poor one if it does not. Before subscribing, look at what your best organic posts do today: if the audience is not already asking where to buy, a link will not create the demand. It only removes friction that was already costing you. Our starting point in social media management is to identify the handful of posts each month that carry purchase intent and give those the link, rather than spreading the allowance evenly.

Send the link somewhere built for it. A link in a Reel lands the visitor on a page with no context from the video. If that page is the homepage, most of the benefit is lost. A landing page that repeats the offer from the post, loads quickly on a phone and has one action is what turns the allowance into enquiries, which is why we treat this as website projects work as much as social work. We described the same mechanism from the other side in why regular posting brings no clients: the gap is usually between the post and the page, not in the post.

Essential is a verification decision, not a marketing one. At $14.99 the plan buys the badge, impersonation protection and a verified WhatsApp channel. For a business that gets impersonated, or that sells over WhatsApp, that is worth having on its own. It does not buy links or scheduling, so do not expect it to change reach or traffic.

Treat the Business Agent as a customer-service tool with a script. The AI agent that answers on your behalf is part of every plan, with capacity rising by tier. It is only as good as the information you give it: opening hours, delivery terms, returns, prices. Set that up and read the transcripts for the first weeks. A confident wrong answer about a refund policy costs more than the subscription.

Do not confuse this with reach. None of the plans claim to change how far organic posts travel, and the bold Follow button and follow invitations are presentation tweaks, not distribution. If the underlying problem is that posts reach few people, the fix is still content, consistency and, where it pays, paid advertising campaigns with proper measurement, not a subscription. On the platform side, TikTok took a different path this month by adding polls and voice to comments for free, which we covered in TikTok’s voice comments, polls and carousels; Meta is charging for the professional layer instead.

Check the account, not the press release. Rollout is gradual and Meta says plans and pricing may vary by region, app and account. For a business in Europe the practical step is to open the subscription settings in the Instagram app or Accounts Center, see which plans appear and at what local price, and note whether an existing Meta Verified subscription has changed name. Our view is that Advanced will become the default for small businesses that sell from Instagram, and that the rest of the tiers are for teams whose problem is capacity rather than tools. Either way, buy it for a month, tag every linked post with a campaign parameter, and let the analytics decide whether month two happens.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Meta One business subscription?
Meta One is the subscription service Meta launched on 15 September 2026 across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta AI. For businesses and creators it comes in four plans, Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max, starting at $14.99 a month, bundling the verified badge with publishing tools, insights and access to the Meta Business Agent.
How do you add a link to an Instagram post or Reel?
Since 15 September 2026 links in organic Instagram posts and Reels are a paid feature of the Meta One Advanced, Expert and Max plans. You add a caption, tap Add link, enter the URL and share. Meta's help page says the link cannot be edited after publishing and the monthly allowance resets on the subscription renewal date.
How many links per month does Meta One allow on Instagram?
According to Meta's help page, Advanced allows up to 4 posts and 4 Reels with links per month, Expert up to 8 and 8, and Max up to 12 and 12. Links to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and to your product catalogue do not count towards the limit, and unused links do not carry over.
Is Meta One available in Europe?
Meta says the plans are available globally and rolling out gradually, with the note that plans, benefits, pricing and availability may vary by region, app and account. If you do not see a plan in your account yet, that is the gradual rollout rather than a regional exclusion, but Meta has not published a country list.
Does Meta One replace Meta Verified for business?
Meta's announcement does not say what happens to existing Meta Verified subscriptions. Engadget describes the Essential plan as combining Meta Verified benefits with the new AI tools and notes that the links feature was tested as part of Meta Verified earlier in 2026, so check your subscription settings rather than assuming a change.
